How & Why

Pure Twitch is a browser extension that automatically filters out sexually explicit streamers from your Twitch feed. It's powered by a community-driven blocklist, helping create a cleaner and more focused viewing experience for everyone.

We believe Twitch should be a space where people can explore their interests without being unexpectedly exposed to explicit content. Pure Twitch empowers you to take back control of your browsing experience - easily, privately, and on your own terms.

This is an open-source project, and we actively welcome contributions, feedback, and suggestions. Transparency, user choice, and community moderation are core to what makes Pure Twitch work.

Put simply, the extension checks every streamer shown on Twitch and hides those flagged as sexually explicit based on a shared community list. If a streamer is found in this list, they're automatically hidden from view - no fuss, no tracking, no distractions.

While this is technically already a feature on Twitch using their Content Preferences settings, it's not always effective. The Twitch feature relies on streamers to self-report their content, which can lead to inconsistencies and gaps in coverage. Pure Twitch takes a more proactive approach by using a community-driven blocklist that is regularly updated based on user reports, feedback, and regular reviews.
